Envision: sell the vision

Envision: customers design their project in 3D before they ever call

A 3D product configurator is an interactive tool on a company's website that lets a customer design a product, see it in 3D, and see a price range before they call. Envision is WRD Media's version for local trade businesses: a custom tool built from your product specs, price sheet, and photos, and used by customers and by your own sales team.

  • $5,000 setup + $500 a month
  • Live in 14 days
  • Built personally by Howard Kan

How much does Envision cost?

Envision is $5,000 one-time setup plus $500 a month for hosting, support, and updates. It covers your first product line. Extra product lines are quoted separately. For the full breakdown of what drives the price of any configurator, read how much a 3D product configurator costs.

What is included

  • Customers design their project in 3D on your website: sizes, colors, options, and day and night views.
  • Your sales team uses the same tool on a tablet in the field.
  • Built-in pricing, so shoppers see an estimate and qualify themselves.
  • We build it from your product specs, price sheet, and photos.
  • 30 days of tweaks plus a training video for your team, and 90 days of tweaks until your team is happy with it.

How it works

  1. You send the inputs. Your product specs, price sheet, logo, photos, and one person who approves. We also need access to your website.
  2. We build and launch it. Howard builds the tool himself with AI-assisted development. It goes live in 14 days or you do not pay the balance.
  3. Customers use it, you get qualified calls. Buyers design the project and see a price range. When they call, the project is already chosen and the price range agreed.

Why it works

Most contractors lose time on shoppers who are not ready to buy and who cannot picture the result. A design tool moves the first half of the sales conversation online: the buyer chooses the options and sees a price range, so the first call starts further along. Whether that pays off for you is something you can measure. Track lead-to-quote and quote-to-close rates before and after launch, and compare design-tool leads with your other leads.

When it makes sense

Signals that a design tool will pay for itself:

  • Your sales team spends hours on estimates for people who never buy.
  • Customers cannot picture the result and compare you only on price.
  • Your product is customizable: size, style, finish, accessories.
  • A single lost job is worth thousands of dollars.

Who it is for, and who it is not

It is for businesses that sell customizable, visual, high-ticket products: pergolas, patio covers, turf, rubber surfacing, fences, decks, outdoor kitchens, pools, windows, and similar. It is not for businesses that sell simple, low-price commodities, or that cannot provide a price sheet. Howard personally builds 4 per month, and when the month is full there is a waitlist.

What happens if you do nothing

Nothing dramatic. Your estimators keep driving to yards for people who are not ready, and buyers who cannot picture the result keep comparing quotes on price. A competitor with a design tool gets the informed buyer first. The cost is quiet and steady, not a one-time hit.
